Marin Shower Door Codes, For Heavy Glass
The County of Marin has specific codes that apply to heavy glass shower enclosures. In new construction or remodel applications, we are required to follow these design guidelines.

Federal & State Building Codes for Egress
All bedrooms require sufficient egress (fire escape), ie. there must be one qualified opening in each bedroom. Some jurisdictions, provide for an exception when replacing windows in homes constructed prior to code changes. However, these are done on a case by case basis. The City of Novato is the only jurisdiction in Marin that has a standing rule for exceptions.

City and County of San Francisco
The San Francisco Building Department has many codes affecting window and door replacement. These include energy codes to meet California’s Energy Standards for window and doors. And Fire Rated windows on property lines for life safety codes.
